來自陝北的紅棗
里仁的紅棗產自乾燥少雨、陽光充足的陝北地區。長於黃河流域乾旱地區溫差大的紅棗樹，結出的棗果品質優良，飽滿厚實、色澤深紅、甜潤可口。經過特別篩選，每一顆都在2.5公分以上，含有多種蛋白質、礦物質與維生素。採收清洗後，再以機械乾燥，可直接食用，或與黃耆、枸杞一同加入熱水中沖泡成補氣茶，或加入料理中烹調。紅棗本身含葡萄糖及果糖，乾燥後葡萄糖會從果實的表皮析出，形成表皮上的白點，並非發霉。
中藥材溯源不易
近年來全球市場對中藥食材的需求愈來愈大，各產地為了確保產量、防止蟲害，普遍使用農藥。為了方便長途運輸及常溫保存，中藥採收後通常會以二氧化硫進行薰蒸。高價的中藥可能還有假貨的問題，有些業者會把長相接近的藥材，混在真品之中以假亂真。雖然很多中醫師及中藥商也希望爲消費者把關，但是他們很難真的溯及源頭到掌控產地。
尋找清淨的來源
里仁考慮到國人普遍使用中藥食材的飲食習慣，便直接到產地尋找純淨的中藥材。經過許多的波折，最後在中藥產地陝北省，委託農友進行不施農藥化肥的有機栽種。有機紅棗耕作期間，有專人不定期進行監測抽檢，採收後則送國際有機認證機構查驗，從種植、生產、到包裝等過程都有詳細的控管與檢測。為了避免運送過程可能的汙染，進口時採單獨個別貨櫃運裝，不與其他慣行產品併櫃。進口到國內後保存於冷藏倉庫，再次通過農藥、二氧化硫、重金屬安全含量檢測才可上架。

Red Dates from Northern Shaanxi
Leezen's Red Dates are sourced from the Northern Shaanxi region, which is dry, receives little rain, and has ample sunshine. Growing in the arid, high-temperature-variation conditions of the Yellow River Basin, these jujube trees yield fruit of excellent quality: plump, thick-fleshed, deep red in color, and sweet and delicious. They are specially screened, with every single date measuring over 2.5 cm, and containing a variety of proteins, minerals, and vitamins. After harvesting and washing, they are mechanically dried. They can be eaten directly, brewed with Astragalus Root (黃耆) and Goji Berries (枸杞) in hot water to make an energizing tea, or used in cooking. Red dates naturally contain glucose and fructose; after drying, the glucose may crystallize on the surface of the fruit, forming white spots—this is a normal sugaring process, not mold.
The Difficulty of Tracing TCM Ingredient Sources
In recent years, the global market demand for traditional Chinese medicinal ingredients has grown significantly. To ensure yield and prevent pests, pesticides are commonly used in various production areas. To facilitate long-distance transport and room-temperature storage, raw medicinal materials are typically fumigated with sulfur dioxide after harvest. High-priced medicinal herbs may also face the issue of counterfeiting, where some businesses mix similar-looking herbs with genuine products to deceive consumers. While many TCM practitioners and merchants want to guarantee quality for consumers, it is very difficult for them to truly trace and control the origin of the raw materials.
Seeking a Pure Source
Considering the common habit of using Chinese medicinal ingredients in the Taiwanese diet, Leezen decided to go directly to the source to find pure herbal materials. After much effort, we finally commissioned farmers in the TCM production area of Northern Shaanxi Province to implement organic cultivation without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. During the cultivation period for the organic red dates, specialists conduct unscheduled monitoring and sampling. After harvest, the dates are sent for inspection by an international organic certification body, ensuring detailed control and testing from planting to production and packaging. To prevent potential contamination during transport, they are imported in separate, dedicated containers and are not consolidated with conventional products. Upon arrival in Taiwan, they are stored in cold storage and must pass further safety tests for pesticides, sulfur dioxide, and heavy metals before being put on shelves.
